Planning an nye party at home and need a little inspo? Think disco balls on the dinner table, clock cupcakes and a drinks cart covered in silver stars.
These ideas give you plenty to choose from, whether you’re decorating one corner or the whole living room.
You can keep it simple or go all out. I especially love the little black bows on the glasses!
Start with a favorite decoration, then pick a snack or sweet treat to go with it.
New Year’s Eve party ideas worth saving
gold fringe and glowing stars
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous New Year’s mantel. I love the gold fringe underneath the snowy-looking garland.
The little star lights and glittery banner make it feel ready for midnight.
Keep your holiday garland up and add gold and white balloons around the hearth. Use this arrangement with the fireplace unlit.
disco balls over dinner
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the hanging disco balls to the black balloon letters against silver fringe.
The party hats at each place setting are my favorite part. Try those with novelty glasses if you want your dinner table to feel a little more playful.
a sparkling little drinks cart
How cute is this little cart? Silver star garlands wrap around the black frame, with tiny disco balls hanging between the shelves.
Set your glasses and drinks on top, then use the lower shelf for extra glassware and decorations. I love the mix of silver and pink-toned disco balls in the basket.
cheers photo corner
Want a photo spot without decorating the entire room? This shiny fringe backdrop is for you.
The gold CHEERS balloons sit above a white New Year’s photo frame.
Pick an open stretch of wall for your version and leave room in front for posing.
a midnight snack board
I am obsessed with the clock detail in the middle of this board. Crackers curve around it, with shrimp, folded sliced meats, fruit and wrapped sweets filling the space.
The star-shaped bowls are so cute too. For your own board, keep the decorative disco balls beside the food rather than nestled into it.
little clock cupcakes
How adorable are these clock toppers? The dark cookies have pale centers decorated with black dots and hands pointing toward twelve.
They look so cute tucked into those big swirls of frosting.
Use this as decorating inspiration for your favorite cupcakes. A few edible gold sprinkles would finish your version nicely.
golden jelly cups
These little cups bring a splash of color to the party table. The image labels them champagne jello shots, with red raspberries showing through the golden jelly.
If you’re serving an alcoholic version, label it clearly. You could also offer a separate alcohol-free jelly option in a different style of cup.
smiley faces and silver fringe
Who says you have to stick to black and gold? These party poppers have pink stripes, flowers and colorful smiley faces, with shiny fringe around the ends.
I especially love the disco-ball cups behind them. Try this pink-and-silver combination if you want something a little different.
a star-covered party hat
This is such a cute way to dress up a plain party hat. Silver stars in different sizes cover the black glittery cone, with a fluffy black-and-silver topper.
For your own version, add star cutouts to a ready-made hat. Keep the oversized star near the bottom like the one here.
disco balls and twisted candles
Don’t want to cover your table with lots of little decorations? No problem!
Try a black runner with a cluster of disco balls and tall twisted candles.
I love the different sizes of the mirrored balls. Choose flameless candles for your version to keep the glow beside the draped runner.
a silver celebration wreath
Welcome everyone with a little sparkle before they even step inside. This silver wreath has shiny round pieces throughout, plus a black-and-gold New Year’s sign at the top.
The gold numbers shown here read 2019. Swap those for the year you’re welcoming, or leave numbers off and keep the sign.
a balloon clock
This balloon clock may just be one of my favorite wall ideas here. The alternating black and silver balloons have gold numbers, with black hands pointing up toward twelve.
Arrange your own numbered balloons in a circle on a blank wall. You don’t need a fringe backdrop for this one.
confetti in a jar
Bring a little color to your table with this confetti-filled jar. I love the bright blue and pink ribbons around the top, especially beside the silver ornament.
The dangling numbers show 2017 in this example. Try the same idea with your upcoming year, or use a little star charm instead.
midnight kisses to take home
How sweet is this little favor? A clear bag holds gold- and silver-wrapped chocolates, with a gray tag that reads MIDNIGHT kisses.
Tie your own bags with gold ribbon and set them near the door. It’s a lovely option if you want a small take-home treat rather than a whole favor box.
gold bottles and ribbon curls
The curls on these bottle decorations are so fun! Gold-colored bottles stand in a row with glittery numbers across the front and bunches of silver and gold ribbon above.
Use the arrangement as inspiration for a side table. Replace the pictured 2019 digits with the year you’re celebrating.
silver fringe around the room
Want to go a little bigger than a single photo corner? Silver fringe covers the dining-area windows and the wall on the left in this living space.
I love that the pale sofa and coffee table stay mostly undecorated. Try putting the sparkle around the edges of your room while leaving the seating area open.
a chocolate dipping board
Calling all chocolate fans, this board has so much to choose from. Strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows and cake pieces surround a bowl of chocolate dip.
The long striped wafer rolls are a cute addition too. Pick a few of your favorite dippers and arrange them in little groups rather than mixing everything together.
build-your-own hot chocolate
This is another sweet idea for your drinks table. Labeled jars hold marshmallows, chocolate chips and peppermint candies, with syrups and whipped cream behind them.
I love the little jar of candy canes beside the sign. Keep cups and spoons nearby so guests can choose their own toppings.
colorful hats and party crafts
Looking for something to do before the countdown? This collage includes colorful party hats, decorated clocks and star-shaped crafts, plus a balloon-drop idea.
The hats at the top are my favorite. You could set out plain hats and coloring supplies so everyone can decorate one for midnight.
black bows and a coupe tower
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty tower of coupe glasses. I am obsessed with the little black bows!
The gold-toned tray and mirrored bottle bucket look so good beside them.
If you’d rather skip the stacking, line your bow-tied glasses across a tray instead. You still get that lovely detail without building a tower.
