Looking for christmas village display ideas for your shelves, mantel or an empty corner? Little glowing houses, snowy trees and tiny skating ponds give you plenty to work with.
These displays range from a single row of buildings to whole towns arranged across several levels.
You can keep it simple or go all out. I especially love the villages with little bridges and winding snowy hills.
There’s also a miniature lantern scene here, though that one is a Christmas room rather than a village.
Christmas Village Displays Worth Saving
snowy houses on the mantel
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous mantel village. I love the red house beside the tall white one, with snowy trees tucked between the buildings.
Try lining up your houses beneath a winter picture like this one. The garland below has red berries and pinecones that look so pretty with those little glowing windows.
three snowy shelf scenes
How cute are those tiny steps leading up to the houses? Each shelf has its own snowy street, with little fences and trees filling the spaces between buildings.
Give each level a different detail if you want to try this arrangement. I’d keep the bench on the bottom shelf and the white picket fences in the middle.
a glowing hillside town
I am obsessed with this little town by the window. The tall church sits at the back while the smaller buildings spread out across the snowy levels below.
If you have one especially tall building, try giving it a spot behind the rest. Don’t forget a few trees around it like the ones here.
scrollwork shelves
This is such a pretty way to fill an open shelving unit. The dark curled frame surrounds little houses, snowy trees and figures on every level.
My favorite part is the pale building with the blue-gray roof on the second shelf. Leave a little space in front of your buildings for people and animals rather than filling every gap with another house.
a village along the window
If you are looking for a long, narrow arrangement, this one is for you. A row of houses stretches beneath the window, with another little scene on the shelf below.
I love the snowy view behind it. Try alternating taller houses with shorter ones along your own display.
frosted village tree
Who needs to choose between a tree and a village? This display brings the two together with circular levels edged in snowy branches and lights.
The little white church near the top is my favorite part. Keep your largest groups of buildings toward the bottom if you’re planning a similar tree-shaped arrangement.
little streets on floating shelves
These floating shelves may just be one of my favorite ideas here. I love the tiny streetlamps along the top row and the little skating scene below.
You don’t have to cover every shelf with snow. The bottom one leaves much of the shelf showing around the buildings and figures.
a miniature room inside a lantern
How adorable is this little Christmas room? It isn’t a village display, but the lit tree, red checked chair and matching footstool are too cute to overlook.
Save this as a separate miniature decorating idea. If you want a village version, you could try a small house and a couple of trees inside a suitably sized lantern instead.
a bridge by the skating pond
There is so much to love in this scene. The wreath-covered bridge sits right at the front, with tiny skaters on a blue pond behind it.
I especially love the church beside the water. Give your pond some open space if you want the little skaters to be just as noticeable as the houses.
snow-covered ladder shelves
Want a tree-shaped village without all the branches? This ladder display is a lovely option.
Rows of little houses sit on snowy shelves that get wider toward the bottom.
The small tree at the very top finishes it off. I’d keep that detail if you’re borrowing this arrangement.
a bookcase full of Christmas
Give your village the whole bookcase with this snowy setup. The glowing church near the top and the train at the bottom are such sweet details.
Some shelves have a full row of buildings while others leave more space between them. Try that same mix rather than arranging every shelf exactly alike.
train tracks and a lighthouse
The train fans are going to love this! Tracks circle the lower tiers, with a Ferris wheel and a red-and-white carousel on the bottom level.
Instead of a star at the top, there’s a striped lighthouse. That is such a fun detail to borrow if your collection has one.
glowing streets behind glass
I love this dark cabinet filled with glowing buildings. Each glass-front section holds its own little street, with star shapes scattered across the backgrounds.
If you want something a little different from open shelves, this is a lovely arrangement to save. The snowy bases stand out beautifully inside the dark frame.
snowy steps and mountain peaks
Those tiny stairs are my favorite part of this mountain scene. They climb the white ledges beside little deer and lead toward the house at the top.
The tall snowy backdrop leaves plenty of room around the buildings. You could borrow the stepped layout for a smaller display without recreating the whole mountain range.
a waterfall above the skaters
Here’s a closer look at the hillside above the skating pond. I love the narrow blue waterfall running down from the fenced cabin area.
The rounded stones along the pond are worth noticing too. Try a similar border around your miniature water feature, then leave the center open for a few skating figures.
cable cars over snowy slopes
This little mountain village has cable cars! They hang above snowy slopes dotted with trees, with glowing buildings tucked onto different ledges.
If you love a ski-town scene, save this one for inspiration. The dark cabin at the front looks especially pretty surrounded by tiny lights.
white houses with black roofs
Don’t want to go all out with tiny people and snowy hills? No problem!
This row of white houses keeps things simple with black roofs, striped awnings and glowing yellow windows.
I love the white trees between the buildings. Keep the colors just as simple if you want to follow this console display.
candy-colored little houses
OMG, how adorable is this gingerbread-style village? The candy-cane stripes and green doors are so cute beside all those white icing-like details.
A tall house stands behind the smaller cottages. Try the same arrangement with your decorative houses so the little roof details at the front stay visible.
stacked crates and a town square
This is such a fun way to give each little group of houses its own space. Open crates form a stepped display, with buildings inside the compartments and along the snowy tops.
I especially love the town square at the bottom. If you try a crate arrangement, secure the stack and keep it clear of the stairway.
garland around every level
Last but definitely not least, we have this big glowing village display. I am obsessed with the greenery draped along the shelf edges!
Little houses and figures fill the snowy spaces above and below.
Try repeating the same garland and lights across your shelves if you want to bring several separate scenes together like this.
