Looking for table setting ideas that start with more than a stack of plates? Think pink tulips, gold-colored cutlery or a little bow around each napkin.
These tables give you plenty to choose from, whether you’re planning a garden brunch or a candlelit dinner.
You can keep it simple or go all out. Start with your favorite color combination, then pick a few details to try with the dishes you already own.
Pretty table settings to try
gold edges and ivory plates
We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous gold-edged dishes. I love the little dotted borders around the ivory plates.
The gold-colored cutlery keeps that same shine going.
Pair your dishes with a pale placemat and clear stemmed glasses if you want to keep the rest simple.
rustic rounds and greenery
How cute is this holiday place setting? The large tree-slice round sits beneath a folded white napkin and printed card, with a leafy sprig and cinnamon sticks laid diagonally across them.

Try carrying the greenery down the middle of your table too. The pinecones and gold-colored bauble are lovely little additions.
black bows and candlelight
I am obsessed with these little black bows. They look so pretty around the white napkins and printed cards, especially beside that gathered cream runner.
Clear candle cylinders run down the center between the white place settings. If you’re recreating this, leave space between your candle holders and the folds of the runner.
garden flowers and sage napkins
This garden table may just be one of my favorites here. I love the loose pink-and-white flower arrangement and the pale green napkins hanging over the edge.
Stack light-colored bowls and plates on round braided placemats to follow this look. A small flower jar beside the larger arrangement is a sweet detail worth keeping.
burgundy roses and little pumpkins
If you are looking for a darker fall table, then this one is for you. There’s a mauve tablecloth, dark ribbed goblets and deep red roses running through the center.
I especially love the little pale pumpkins beside the flowers. Try gold-colored candle holders with tall pale candles to finish your own version.

pink tulips for brunch
The tulip fans are going to love this! Bright pink napkins sit over white plates and tulip-print placemats.
The pink tulips and white daisies in the center are just as cute.
Tie a little tulip bundle around each napkin like the ones here. You can leave out the scattered petals if you’d rather keep more of the tabletop clear.
floral plates and scalloped edges
How pretty are these floral plates? The red, purple and yellow flowers look lovely with the sage green placemats and matching white-edged napkins.
The green goblets and tall lime-colored candles bring in even more green. I’d keep those scalloped edges if you’re choosing just one detail to borrow.
gold lanterns and pinecones
Bring a little Christmas greenery to your table with this lantern-filled setup. I am in love with the tiny decorative trees tucked between the candles and pinecones.
Dark green napkins sit on white plates over gold-colored chargers. Add a pinecone and a pine sprig to each place setting if you want to follow the same look.
amber and pink glasses
Don’t want all your glasses to match? No problem!
This table pairs amber goblets with pink ones, plus little amber bottles filled with pale flowers.
I love the loose knots in the brown napkins. Try them across plain white plates so you can enjoy all that color without adding another pattern.
napkins tied with little sprigs
If you’re looking for a small detail to change rather than a whole new table setup, go with these tied napkins. The tan, white and blue versions each have a little sprig tucked into the string.
The tiny pale flowers on the white napkin are my favorite. Choose one color for your table or mix the three.
a menu and a name band
This is such a pretty way to bring a menu and place card together. A cream name band wraps around the folded napkin, with a leafy branch tucked behind it.
The white plate has a gently shaped rim that looks lovely against the brown round placemat. Add a tiny drawn heart beneath each guest’s name if you like that extra personal touch.
a big rust-colored bow
I am obsessed with this oversized bow. It’s so pretty against the ivory napkin, plus that fine gold-colored edging makes the loops stand out.
The patterned plate border adds another little detail underneath. Try a wide rust-colored ribbon if you want to give your own pale place settings a similar fall look.
black plates and plaid
Don’t want to go overboard with flowers? No problem there!
This fall table uses black dishes, a black-and-white plaid runner and little decorative pumpkins instead.
The plaid napkins match the runner without covering the whole table. Place a rust-colored pumpkin in each bowl to try the same simple arrangement.
orange slices and folded napkins
This is another lovely way to use orange tones, but it’s a little different from the bow above. The napkin folds around the cutlery, with an orange slice and a small sprig on top.

I love the broad brown charger beneath the white plate. An amber goblet is a pretty choice if you want to repeat these colors around your table.
peach flowers and patterned napkins
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty round dinner table. I love the peach flowers spread between clear vases and pink-toned candles.
The gray floral napkins sit in pale napkin rings over simple plates. Try a few smaller flower arrangements like these rather than one large bouquet in the middle.
