Looking for circus decor with a little something extra? Think striped canopies, illustrated furniture and popcorn balloons that are almost as fun as the snack itself.
These ideas include playful room details plus bigger party setups if you want to go all out.
You don’t have to turn your whole home into a big top.
Circus decorating ideas worth saving
an elephant tea party
How adorable is this illustration? The elephant is holding a tiny cup with its trunk while a clown sits across the table.
The faded yellow background and oversized red lettering are just as lovely.
For a smaller touch of the theme, you could frame a similar illustrated print above a side table.
balloons and a striped canopy
If you’re planning a circus aesthetic interior, this mood board gives you plenty to work with. There are striped hot-air balloons, scattered stars and a red-and-cream tent-shaped shade.
I especially love the yellow striped cushion beside the red-and-white pouf. Borrow that color pairing for a reading corner.
Treat the crib canopy as visual inspiration rather than a sleep-space setup.
a horse above the stairs
Is that a carousel-style horse hanging beneath a striped balloon? This stairwell certainly goes all out!
The white horse has gold-colored wings and red accents that repeat the colors overhead.
I’d borrow the flying-horse motif for artwork rather than try to recreate this large suspended installation.
tickets and a cheerful greeter
Welcome everyone with a striped ticket booth and this cheerful mustached character. The turquoise counter and colorful ticket rolls are such fun details.
For a party entrance, pair your booth with a signpost pointing toward games, photos and treats. This one keeps all those bright colors together without sticking to just red and white.
a circus picture tabletop
This may just be one of my favorite furniture ideas here. I love the illustrated horse and performers on the round tabletop.
The blue border looks so pretty with the red-and-white striped edge.
I’d leave most of the top clear so you can actually enjoy the picture.
animals in party hats
OMG, how cute is this little group? There’s an elephant with a hoop, a bear on a checkered ball and a penguin wearing a tall red hat.
The striped collars and red pom-poms tie the different animals together. You could group a few decorative figures on a shelf for a smaller version of this display.
striped party tables
The stripe fans are going to love this! Red-and-white table coverings sit beneath gold-colored plates and little tent-shaped boxes.
The blue chair cushions add another bright color.
Try those three colors for your own party table. A small popcorn-machine centerpiece like the one here makes a fun alternative to flowers.
blue rays and a red dresser
I am obsessed with this dresser front. The blue-and-cream rays spread across the drawers, with tiny dotted panels and decorative trim around them.
The red top and tall shaped mirror make it even prettier. If you’re planning a furniture makeover, this is a lovely color combination to save.
a giant popcorn box
How cute is this popcorn display? The white balloon clusters have small gold-colored centers, with extra pieces of pretend popcorn scattered around the base.

The tall striped box makes the idea clear without needing lots of other props. I’d use a display like this beside a snack table.
bunting over the playroom
This playroom has so many fun little details. I love the striped bunting overhead and the lion sitting inside the red, white and blue tent.
The tiny tent-shaped wall shelves might be my favorite part. For your own version, start with one shelf and a red rug rather than copying every piece at once.
Keep any hanging decorations well out of children’s reach.
a popcorn cart corner
Here is another popcorn idea, but this time there’s a cart beside the decoration. Its deep red panels and gold-colored wheels look so good next to the oversized striped box.

The loose yellow and white balloons give you a different look from the clustered ones above. Keep decorative balloons separate from the machine and its working area.
a little striped nook
Don’t want to decorate the whole room? No problem!
This red-and-white canopy turns one corner into a little tent, with tied-back sides and tiny flags across the front.
I love the collection of toy animals underneath. Keep the canopy securely mounted and any ties out of reach if you’re adapting the idea for a child’s room.
blue diamonds and stars
If you’re looking for a circus detail without more red stripes, go with this blue drum-shaped prop. Cream-colored lines frame the pale blue diamonds, with little red-and-yellow stars in the middle.
You could borrow the pattern for a decorative box or a painted display piece.
burgundy curtains and ornate details
This bedroom is more vintage and theatrical than explicitly circus-themed. I love the tall burgundy curtains, ornate mirror and patterned rugs, but there aren’t any obvious big-top motifs here.
Save it for the moodier color palette. If you want to connect that look to the theme, you could add a framed circus illustration of your own.
arrows for every attraction
Give your party entrance a playful detail with a tall signpost like this one. The arrows alternate directions beneath a red welcome sign topped with a little tent and stars.
Choose labels that match your actual party areas. I especially like the dotted borders that look like rows of tiny marquee bulbs.
red curtains and gold fringe
I am obsessed with this little circus backdrop. The open red curtains reveal shiny gold-colored fringe, with pale blue, white, red and gold-colored balloons around the top.
The toy tiger and low red pedestal are adorable together. For a photo corner, you could keep those details and use a plain decorative hoop instead of adding more props.
a gold-topped ticket booth
This is another striped ticket booth, but it’s a little different from the one above. I love the oversized gold-colored flourish at the top and the simple open window.
The dark green backdrop lets you see every red-and-white stripe. Try a similar booth beside a welcome sign if you want a clear entrance area for your celebration.

a circus-wagon bookcase
Last but definitely not least, we have this adorable circus-wagon bookcase. I love the decorative wheels and the giant toy tiger stretched across the top!
The red shelves hold books, toys and little moon-and-star decorations. It’s such a fun reference for themed storage.
If you’re adapting it for a child’s room, anchor the furniture securely and keep heavy objects off the top.
