20 Spring Pottery Ideas With Flowers, Little Ducks and More

Looking for spring pottery ideas with a little personality? Think a duck-covered mug, a pink daisy pitcher or a bunny planter with the sweetest little face.

These pieces give you plenty to work with, whether you love painting flowers or trying a playful shape.

You can keep things simple or go all out. Pick a color combination you love, then decide whether you want tiny painted details or something sculpted.

That wide-mouthed frog is definitely worth a look!

Spring Pottery Designs Worth Saving

little ducks and a flower heart

How adorable are these two little ducks? The yellow pair faces each other inside a heart made of tiny flowers and green stems.

I especially love the little green bows scattered around the cream-colored mug.

For your own version, keep the flowers pale pink and yellow so the ducks stay part of that pretty pastel mix.

a smiling bunny planter

Don’t want to go all out with painted patterns? No problem!

This white bunny planter has two short ears, dot eyes and a tiny smile. The matching rounded dish underneath is just as cute.

fried egg dishes

These little egg dishes are so fun! Each one has a wavy cream-colored edge and a raised yellow yolk, but none of the shapes are quite the same.

I’d keep those uneven outlines if you want to try this idea. The long narrow dish is just as charming as the wider ones.

purple flowers on a large platter

If you love floral pottery, this one is for you. Tall green stems stretch across the white platter, with purple blooms and tiny buds branching out between them.

I am in love with that gently uneven rim. Leave some open space around your own flower design if you want a similar look.

a pink daisy pitcher

This pitcher may just be one of my favorites here. The white daisies look so pretty against the pink, especially with those long stems running down the sides.

The tulips shown here are a lovely pairing. Try a similar bunch with yellow and red markings if you want to follow this display.

a twig-like nest bowl

Want something a little different from painted flowers? This gray nest-shaped piece has overlapping twig-like strands and little leaf shapes tucked throughout.

There’s so much detail around the rim and across the bottom. Save this one for sculptural inspiration rather than a simple bowl-painting project.

orange carrot dishes

The carrot fans are going to love this! These orange dishes have pointed ends, little lines across the insides and dark green leafy tops.

Try a few different lengths instead of making every piece match. I especially love the wide carrot beside the long skinny one.

big pink daisies

I am obsessed with this flower-covered bowl. The pale pink petals and darker pink centers are so cute together, with a thin pink line around the rim.

Let a few flowers continue up the sides in your own design. They don’t all need to fit neatly inside the bottom.

blue-winged dragonflies

If you are looking for a quieter pattern, this one is for you. Three dragonflies with pale blue wings sit among tiny blue flower-like marks on a cream-colored plate.

There’s plenty of blank space between them, which I’d keep just as it is.

a leafy hanging planter

How cute is this little herb display? The green hanging planter has pale leaf outlines across the front, with leafy growth above and a basil marker tucked inside.

If you’re planning your own version, repeat a leaf motif from the plant you want to display. It’s a sweet way to connect the pot and the greenery.

golden yellow suns

Bring a little sunshine to your pottery with this yellow-on-cream design. I love the mix of short rays and tiny dots around each sun.

Try letting one sun meet the rim like the one at the top here. You don’t have to keep every circle fully inside the design.

red spotted mushrooms

These mushroom sculptures are just too cute. The red caps have white spots and wavy edges, with little ridged collars around the pale stems.

I’d display a tall one beside two shorter mushrooms to follow this group. Those different heights are worth keeping.

cream flowers on blue-gray

This is another gorgeous floral idea, but it looks quite different from the pink daisies above. Fine cream-colored flowers cover a blue-gray pot, with narrow leaves and little lines inside the petals.

My favorite part is the mix of flower shapes. Try including a bell-shaped bloom beside a larger, spiky-petaled flower.

a flower-covered hen egg cup

How sweet is this little hen? Blue and yellow flowers cover the white body, while the red comb and wattle give the face a bright finishing touch.

The egg sits right inside the open back.

Keep the tiny black dot eye if you’re sketching a similar design. It doesn’t need much more.

a yellow beehive jar

If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. This bright yellow lidded jar has rounded hive-like ridges, striped bees and raised dotted trails curling around the sides.

The little bee on top is my favorite part. I’d keep that detail even if you choose fewer bees for the body.

green with raised pink dots

Don’t want flowers or little animals on your pottery? Try this green bowl-shaped pot with raised pink dots instead.

I love how the dots wrap around the whole rounded body, right down toward the pale base.

a green berry colander

Here’s a pottery idea with a different kind of detail. This handled green bowl has textured horizontal bands and a cluster of drainage holes near the bottom.

It’s shown with strawberries inside as water runs through.

If you want to make one for rinsing fruit, check food-contact suitability and drainage with your pottery studio rather than relying on the photo alone.

flower-shaped jar toppers

I love these flower-shaped toppers over little jars. The yellow and green pieces have holes in their centers, while the pink one is shown holding stems in an arrangement.

Try a few different petal shapes if you want a little collection. The pointed green petals look so cute beside the rounder yellow ones.

a wide-mouthed frog

That face! This green frog has big round eyes, tiny nostrils and a huge open mouth with a red tongue sticking out to one side.

The mottled green coloring and little lines on the feet add even more personality. I’d let this one stand on its own rather than surround it with lots of other decorations.

floral hanging bells

Last but definitely not least, we have these pretty hanging bells. I love the wavy edges and the tiny painted flowers!

Each cream-colored bell has a patterned round clapper peeking out underneath.

Try a different floral pattern on each one, like the curling green stems and scattered yellow flowers shown here.
