20 Bedroom Pillow Arrangement Ideas With Pretty Colors and Patterns

Looking for a bedroom pillow arrangement that feels a little more you? Think chocolate brown with stripes, olive green with a round accent or pink pillows with a little fringe.

These bedrooms give you plenty of colors and shapes to try, plus a couple of simpler starting points.

You can keep things simple or go all out with patterns. Start with a combination you love, then decide whether you want a single little pillow in front or a whole layered row.

Pillow combinations worth saving

chocolate brown and narrow stripes

We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous brown and white combination. The dark pillows sit behind white ones and a pair of striped rectangles, with one long pinstriped pillow across the front.

I love that the front pillow brings the brown back in. Keep that detail if you want to try the same layered look.

mixed patterns and little tassels

How cute is this mix? There are caramel-colored pillows, a gray geometric print and a little cream rectangle with tassels right in front.

If you want to mix different patterns, try keeping the back row plain like the large cream pillows here. There’s still plenty going on without adding another print.

cream with a brown accent

If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. On the visible side of the bed, a large cream pillow sits behind a smaller brown rectangle.

The brown throw repeats that same color farther down the bed. That’s a lovely detail to borrow without adding more pillows.

olive squares and a round pillow

This olive green combination may just be one of my favorites here. I love the little botanical lumbar pillow, plus that round pleated cushion beside it.

Start with white pillows behind two green squares. Then place your smaller accents side by side rather than hiding one behind the other.

rust pillows and a striped bolster

I am obsessed with this long striped bolster. It stretches across the front of the rust and burgundy pillows, with stacked white sleeping pillows behind them.

Try a mustard-colored bolster if you want to bring another color into a red-toned arrangement. The small pale marks on the larger back cushions are pretty too.

colorful flowers and ruffled stripes

The floral pillows are so pretty in this arrangement. Pink, blue and red flowers sit in front of plain white pillows, with narrow stripes and ruffled edges at the back.

Don’t want every layer to be patterned? Keep that white row in the middle. I’d leave this combination just like it is.

plum green and leopard print

How gorgeous is this plum and green pairing? The plum pillows sit behind a row of shaggy-looking leopard print, with a large green cushion angled into the left foreground.

I love how much of the print still shows. Try placing your green cushion off to one side if you want to keep those leopard spots visible.

a relaxed cream bedroom

Don’t want a bed covered in decorative pillows? This room offers a more relaxed starting point, with rumpled cream bedding and a large pale cushion resting on the floor.

The pillows at the head of the bed are mostly hidden from this angle. For your own version, you could keep just a pair of cream pillows there and let the flowers and plants bring in the color.

botanical details and patchwork

How sweet are these little branch designs? The pale pillows sit beside a colorful botanical print and a smaller patchwork square in cream, gray and muted rust.

This arrangement doesn’t stay in neat rows. One branch-detail pillow lies farther down the bed, which is a pretty option if you like a less formal setup.

a blue and white starting point

Love blue and white? This bed is shown without arranged pillows, but the pale blue quilt and patterned bedding give you a pretty place to start.

I’d add white back pillows with a pair of blue accents in front. That would pick up the colors already in the bedding and artwork.

deep blue and striped accents

I love this blue pillow combination. The large deep blue squares sit in front of white pillows, with smaller blue-and-white stripes showing at the back.

There are two overlapping rectangles in front, including a cream one with fringe. Try that little overlap instead of lining every pillow up in a straight row.

blue gingham and white bows

OMG, how adorable are these bow details? The blue gingham pillows have ruffled edges, while the white pillows bring in bows and delicate stitched designs.

Keep the small white square at the front if you want to follow this look. Its decorative border is too pretty to hide.

rust patterns against white

These patterned pillows look gorgeous against the dark wall. I especially love the rusty orange mixed with cream and dark details.

Pair patterned squares with tall white pillows behind them, then tuck a small plain cream cushion between them. You don’t need another print in front.

matching pillows on twin beds

Here’s a different setup for a shared bedroom. Each narrow bed has stacked white pillows, an upright gray cushion and a pale yellow cylindrical bolster.

I love how the two sides mirror each other around the floral divider. Try matching pillow colors if you want separate beds to look like a pair.

taupe squares and a leopard bolster

Not gonna lie, the leopard bolster is my favorite part of this bed! Three taupe square pillows make up the row behind it, with white pillows peeking out at the back.

If you want a little animal print without mixing lots of colors, this is a lovely way to do it.

brown squares and a white center

Don’t want to go overboard with patterns? No problem!

Try two brown squares in front of large white pillows, then add one smaller white rectangle in the middle.

The brown throw ties it all together. This bedroom pillow arrangement is one I’d choose for a simple white bed.

plaid pillows and burgundy accents

The plaid fans are going to love this! Large pale checked pillows sit alongside a smaller gray plaid square and deep burgundy accents.

The blanket brings those colors together again. If you want to try several checks, borrow this mix of larger pale lines and smaller darker ones.

dark squares and fringed stripes

This is another striped arrangement, but it’s a little different from the brown one above. I love the fringed edges on the two striped squares.

The dark pillows stay visible behind them, while a small floral rectangle sits across the front. Keep that front pillow low so you can still see the stripes.

pink fringe and a green lumbar

How cute is this pink and green pairing? This bedroom collage shows three pink pillows with dark fringed borders and one long green rectangle across the front.

The green lamp repeats the accent color beside the bed. You could try the same idea with a bedside accessory you already have.

blush pink and cream layers

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty blush and cream combination. I love the tall pink pillows behind the white rectangles and cream squares.

The little cream pillow finishes the front without covering up those larger layers. Keep the pink bedding if you want to carry the color beyond the pillows.
