Looking for a u shaped walk in closet design with more than just rows of hanging clothes? Think lighted shelves, a pretty mirror or a little spot to sit.
These images include wraparound layouts plus individual corners and storage details you can borrow for your own closet.
You can keep things simple with white shelves or go all out with dark green cabinets and sparkling lights. Start with the storage you need, then pick the details you love.
Walk-in closet ideas worth saving
white shelves and a tall mirror
We’re starting off strong with this pretty white closet and its sparkling ceiling light. I love the tall mirror at the end of the aisle.
The storage runs along both sides here rather than across the back.

Borrow the low shoe shelves if you want to keep your pairs beneath your hanging clothes.
a drawer island and globe lights
How gorgeous is this closet? The gray-beige island has rows of drawers beneath a pale top, with two globe lights hanging above it.
The handbag shelves may just be my favorite part. If your room has space for an island, leave room around it to walk and open the drawers.

dark shelves with bright edges
I am obsessed with these bright vertical lights against the dark shelving. The black-framed doors and little round pouf make this closet look a little different from the white ones.
Try a dark pouf like this if you want a seat without adding another color.
baskets and trailing greenery
If you love having a place for everything, this one is for you. Shoes line the side shelves, clothes hang on stacked rails and baskets sit all along the top.
I especially love the greenery above the middle shelves. A trailing plant could be a pretty addition if your closet gets suitable light.
pale grain and simple drawers
Don’t want to go overboard with the decor? No problem!
This corner keeps things simple with pale grain-patterned fronts, open cubbies and matching hangers. The drawers have narrow openings instead of knobs.
lighted rails and divided trays
There’s so much useful storage tucked into this corner. I love the long hanging section on the left and the shallow divided tray above the drawers on the right.
Try lighting beneath your upper shelves to follow this look. The strips continue around the corner above the clothes.

a little window seat
How cute is this window seat? The patterned cushion and small pillows sit between white drawer towers, with more drawers underneath.

If you have a window in your closet, this is a lovely detail to consider instead of putting a tall unit in front of it.
handbag cubbies and white hangers
This is another pretty way to arrange a closet corner. I love the narrow handbag shelves between the hanging sections.
The matching white hangers are worth borrowing too. They repeat across the upper and lower rails, right beside those simple white drawers.
a corner full of shoes
The shoe fans are going to love this! Open shelves wrap around the corner, with taller spaces at the bottom for boots.
Handbags and small organizers share the shelves too.
This photo shows a shoe-storage corner rather than a full U-shaped layout. Save it for the shelving details.
pale green and pink
This color combination may just be my favorite one so far. The pale green cabinets have fine gold-colored trim, with pink seats beside them.

If you want something other than white, try this green on your cabinets. Keep a matching frame around your mirror to follow the look.
a round ottoman and blush accents
I love this round tufted ottoman on the patterned rug. The pale pink curtains and matching hangers are such pretty little touches.

You don’t have to add an island to use the middle of your closet. A round seat is another option if you can keep the surrounding walkway clear.
mirrored corner doors
Don’t want every storage section left open? These tall mirrored doors give you another idea to save.
I love how they follow the angled corner, with white cupboards and decorative trim above them.
a patterned runner and basket tower
If you are looking for a simple way to dress up a narrow closet, start with a patterned runner like this one. The cream and dark border looks so pretty between the white drawers.
The back wall has its own little storage tower too, with baskets above a stack of drawers.
gold rails and a pink stool
How cute is that little pink stool? Its gold-colored base goes with the hanging rails and spiky ceiling light.
I love the blue rug underneath it. Try that pink-and-blue pairing if you want to add color without changing your white closet units.
big flowers and teal walls
If you are looking for lots of color, then this one is for you. The oversized coral flowers around the doorway are gorgeous beside the smaller cream pattern inside the closet.
Keep your shelves white if you want to try a similarly bold wall pattern. The gold-colored drawer handles are a pretty finishing touch.
simple shelves and black rails
Want something a little more stripped back? This closet has white shelves, black rails and a narrow stack of cubbies, without extra decoration.
The visible storage runs across the back and right side while the left wall stays bare. It’s a useful alternative if a full U would crowd your room.
lighted displays and leopard print
I am obsessed with the little handbag displays at the end of this closet. The pink flowers, gold-colored rails and leopard-print stool make it feel so dressed up.
Try giving a favorite bag its own shelf instead of filling every space with folded clothes. The lighting above each display is worth saving too.
dark green and a jewelry island
This one goes all out! Dark green covers the upper cabinets and ceiling, with brown shelving and glowing strips underneath.
I especially love the jewelry display in the island and the tall arched mirror at the back. For a smaller room, you could borrow the colors without adding the center island.
upper cupboards and pale drawers
Don’t want lots of baskets on display? Take a look at the closed cupboards running around the top of this closet. There are plenty of drawers below too.
The pale colors keep the details simple. I’d borrow the slim handles and leave the countertops mostly clear, just like this.
a glowing mirror and wraparound shelves
Last but definitely not least, we have this brown closet with a tall illuminated mirror. I love how the shelf lighting continues around the corners!
Open shelves, hanging sections and low drawers surround the little round stool. The bright border around the mirror is the detail I’d keep if recreating this look.
