Looking for new years table decor with a little sparkle? Think gold plates, tiny clock faces and disco balls right down the middle.
There’s plenty to choose from here, including simple napkin details and a balloon-covered cake corner if you want to go all out.
You don’t have to change every piece on your table. Start with the plates you already have, then pick a few decorations to go with them. I especially love the black bows and little midnight-inspired touches.
New Year’s table ideas worth saving
black plates and little trees
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous black and gold setting. I love the ridged gold chargers under the black plates.
The tall white tree and little black reindeer bring a wintery touch to the sparkly runner.
Try black napkins with gold-colored rings if you want to follow the same look.
balloons and black bows
How cute are the bows on these glasses? They match the ones beneath the cream and gold balloons, with long black ribbons hanging toward the table.
If you want your new years table to feel extra festive, this is such a pretty starting point. I’d keep the black plates and white napkins too.
clocks and scattered stars
I am obsessed with all these little clock faces. The mix of cream, black and golden-brown designs looks so pretty beside the gold-edged plates.
For your own version, scatter clock cutouts and gold stars between the place settings. Add a little string of lights to follow the sparkle here.
disco balls and starburst napkins
If you are looking for new years table decorations ideas with lots of shine, this one is for you. There are disco balls in different sizes, gold-colored branches and tall black candles.
The little starbursts on the white napkins may just be my favorite detail. You could use similar ornaments at each place setting.
gold confetti and candlelight
This is such a pretty way to dress a long table. Gold-colored confetti runs across the white background, with little flower arrangements tucked between the candles.
You don’t need all matching candleholders to try this look. The different shapes are part of what makes this table so lovely.
a balloon-filled cake corner
Want to decorate beyond the dinner table? This little cake display gives you plenty of inspo.
White, gold and clear confetti balloons surround a round white table at different heights.
I love how simple the cake table stays underneath all of that. Try a similar backdrop for your dessert corner rather than filling the tabletop with extra decorations.
gold party hats and stars
How adorable are these little party hats? The pom-pom tops and big glittery star are so cute next to the gold crown.
You could place a personalized hat at each seat instead of a plain place card. Keep the black lettering and white labels if you like this same gold, black and white mix.
navy bows and silver sparkle
I love this navy runner with the matching bow-shaped napkins. The silver disco balls look gorgeous between the dark candles, with gold-colored chargers beneath the white plates.
If black isn’t your favorite, try navy for your own table. You can still bring in plenty of sparkle.
twisted candles and disco balls
Don’t want to cover the whole table in decorations? No problem!
Try a gathered black runner with a cluster of disco balls and cream twisted candles.
The tiny disco ball beside the larger ones is such a good detail. I’d keep that mix of sizes rather than choosing them all the same.
white roses and gold-toned vases
If you’re looking for something a little simpler, go with white roses, leafy stems and a white taper candle. The gold-toned vases have lovely curved shapes without needing lots of extra decoration.
a little clock at each seat
This place setting may just be one of my favorites here. I love the small clock face beneath the sparkling rectangular napkin ring.
The black and white folds almost look like a dressed-up little jacket.
Try a scalloped gold charger underneath your white plates to follow the full combination.
tiny white flowers and candles
Don’t want to add gold or black to your table? No problem there!
This all-white setting has pillar candles in clear cylinders and a long trail of tiny white flowers.

Keep your plates and napkins white for the same look. If you recreate the flower-filled center, use flameless candles where stems sit close to the lights.
shiny gold chain loops
Who says your table needs a big centerpiece? These linked gold-colored loops look so fun draped across stacked white dishes.
You could use a similar decorative chain down the center of your table or around a display stand. I’d leave a few loose curves rather than pulling it into a straight line.
good fortune cookie favors
How sweet is this little favor idea? The bagged fortune cookies have white and gold cards that read “Wishing you good fortune in the new year.”
Line yours up in a narrow tray like this or place a bag at each seat. The scattered gold stars are a pretty finishing touch.
clock faces and gold ornaments
Here’s another clock idea, but this one goes all out with gold. A large clock design sits inside each gold charger, with smaller clocks tucked into the ornament-filled center.
I especially love the gray napkin hanging beneath the plate. It’s a lovely choice if you want something other than black or white.
pink flowers and tall feathers
Calling all color lovers, this centerpiece is so pretty! Pink, orange and white flowers sit beneath tall white and pink feathers.
This isn’t a countdown-themed setting, but you could borrow the arrangement for a colorful New Year’s dinner. Keep the white plates and folded napkins if you want the flowers to be the main decoration.
silver fringe and black balloons
Take the decorating behind your table with this silver fringe backdrop. I love the black “Happy New Year” balloons across the curved panels.
The table edge has a black runner, greenery and a little disco ball. You could repeat those few details without adding much else when the backdrop is already this sparkly.
greenery and black stars
Not ready to put all the winter decorations away? This table mixes evergreen branches, white poinsettias, pinecones and gold and silver ornaments.
The black stars on the white plates are my favorite part. Try tying a small green sprig to each one with a gold-colored ribbon to bring the centerpiece into your place settings.
a candy clock drinks cart
OMG, how cute is this candy clock? Gold-wrapped chocolates circle the edge while silver-wrapped sweets fill the middle beneath oversized black clock hands.
The disco ball bottle holder is just as fun. You could borrow either detail for a drinks table if you don’t have room for a separate cart.

black napkin bands and tiny baubles
Last but definitely not least, we have these pretty white napkins with wide black bands. I love the little white and silver ornaments tied around them!
Try this detail if you want a small festive touch at every seat. The mix of striped and snowflake-patterned baubles makes it even cuter.
